On Monday evening, a young man injured more than 20 people with an axe and a knife on a train in Bavaria. The attacker, a 17-year-old Afghan refugee, was shot dead by the police. Four members of a family party from Hong Kong were severely injured during the attack – two remain in a critical condition.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack, though security officials in Germany believe the attacker acted alone. He had reportedly travelled to German from Afghanistan as an unaccompanied minor.
