On Tuesday night, a businessman was reportedly abducted by gunmen outside of his business in Woodstock, Cape Town. Zhaun Ahmed is the most recent in a series of business owners to be abducted – this IOL article details some of the other cases.

Elderly Cape Town businessman abducted

Three unknown men allegedly accosted Zhaun Ahmed around 17:40 on Tuesday, said Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana. Ahmed is the owner of Zhauns in Woodstock.

“According to information, the victim and his driver were busy in his vehicle. An unknown double cab bakkie pulled up behind them, whereby three men threatened the victim with a firearm and forced him into their bakkie and drove off in the direction of Victoria Road, Woodstock.”

Kidnapping of Zhauns owner still a mystery

Ahmed was packing items in his white BMW when four men wearing masks pulled up in a bakkie.

One of his employees, who was with him at the time, tried to wrestle with the men but was overpowered.

It is alleged that the suspects used a Taser to subdue Ahmed and left the staff member unharmed.
