On Monday, the Taliban claimed that the health of American hostage Kevin King has deteriorate quite severely. King and his Australian colleague Timothy Weeks were abducted in August 2016 from Kabul by gunmen wearing military uniforms. The pair were travelling between the American University and their compound.

It is believed the hostages are being held by the Haqqani network – the group responsible for holding Caitlan Coleman and her husband Joshua Boyle as well. The group have demanded the released of Taliban prisoners, including a member of the Haqqani family, in exchange for King and Weeks.
