Tropical Cyclone Berguitta is set to make landfall in Mauritius and Réunion later this week. Conditions are likely to be very hazardous.

If you are in the region, make sure you follow advice from the authorities and monitor media channels for information. If you are set to head to the region, please contact your travel agent to confirm your travel. Make sure you have all the relevant contact information for your embassy and your travel insurance, and that this is accessible offline as well (in case of power failure, etc).

Advice from the Canadian Government regarding the cyclone –

Storm conditions, including excessive rainfall and violent winds, may cause flash flooding and landslides that could disrupt transportation and communications. Other services that may be affected include emergency and medical care, and water and food delivery.

Avoid any unnecessary travel through the affected regions.

If you reside in or are travelling to the affected areas, you should exercise caution, monitor local news and weather reports, and follow the instructions of local authorities.
