On Tuesday evening, two Americans and two Canadians were abducted near Jere and Kagarko, on the Kaduna-Abuja highway. It is believed they were headed from Kafanchan to Abuja at the time.

CBS News reports that the foreigners are ‘investors setting up solar stations in villages around Kafanchan in Kaduna state.’ They were travelling in two separate vehicles at the time of the incident. A police escort had been provided and the gunmen killed the two police officers during the attack.

A witness told the Premium Times that he saw the abductors ‘in a Golf car following the foreigners’ vehicles.’ A passenger in the witness’ car was shot in the leg in the ensuing gun battle.

As of Thursday morning, there have been no reports of a ransom demand. A specialist anti-kidnapping unit has been deployed.
