On 30 January 2018, a significant fire occurred at the Osh bazaar on the outskirts of Bishkek. There are reports of high levels of carbon monoxide in the area, so you should avoid the immediate area until further notice.

There are also separate, ongoing problems with heating and water supplies in Bishkek, which could pose health and safety issues. You’re advised to monitor local media for updates.
