On Sunday morning, a Canadian tourist was found stabbed to death in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. The man, believed to be a professional photographer called Bruce McCallum, was travelling with a group of fellow Canadians and had gone out early to take photos of the sunrise. Police believe his death was the result of a botched robbery.

Canadian Tourist Stabbed to Death in Puerto Viejo, Limón, Costa Rica
Today, in the early morning hours, a man was discovered lying along the side of the road with stab wounds in his stomach in the center of Puerto Viejo, a tourist beach town in the Atlantic coastal province of Limón, reported judicial investigative police (OIJ) press officials this afternoon.
Some passerbys reported the incident to local Bribri regional police office, who are preliminarily describing the incident as an assault and robbery.

Toronto man killed in Costa Rica
Detectives told the Tico Times that the victim was travelling with a group of Canadian tourists who had arrived in the country Feb. 19.
He is reportedly a professional photographer and friends told the paper he was anxious to shoot photos of the spectacular sunrise rising above the Caribbean Sea.
But it appears the doomed photographer was followed and targeted. His backpack and camera equipment were stolen.
