Location: Pretoria Central Business District (CBD)

Event: Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) announced that permission was granted for the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) to march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria tomorrow, March 20, 2018, from 09:00 to 2:00 pm to protest job losses in the mining industry. Approval was given for 1,500 members of the Union to participate in the march.

The march will commence at the Burgers Park in the CBD from where they will march down Lillian Ngoyi Street, turn right into Francis Baard Street, left on Nelson Mandela Drive, and right into Madiba Street until they reach the Union Buildings in Arcadia.

The following intersections along the route will be affected:

  • Minnaar Street
  • Visagie Street
  • Skinner Street
  • Steve Biko Street
  • Hamilton Street

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
