Earlier this week the US Embassy in Nigeria issued a warning that terrorist groups are planning to kidnap American and European nationals in Borno. A travel ban for Borno has been put in place for American government personnel.
If you are in or planning travel to Borno or other Nigerian states, make sure you have factored potential kidnaps and terror attacks into your travel risk management plan. If you are being sent to Nigeria for work, your company should have provided you with up to date security briefings and adequate training. If you do not feel prepared for your trip, talk to your boss as soon as possible.
